Building Sustainable Futures!
With our Building Skills Program, students learn the real-life applications of math and science and are prepared for high skill, high wage careers in the building and construction industry. From measurement and blueprint reading through the science of concrete and electricity, students gain a hands-on understanding of the importance of math and science on the job site.

The Building Skills Program uses a multimedia approach and the best instructional design practice. Every module includes clearly-stated learning objectives and is correlated to state and national standards. Students are engaged in hands-on learning 65% of the time through real world design briefs and open-ended problem solving.

Students are introduced to:

  • Blueprint Reading
  • Estimation
  • Electrical
  • Plumbing
  • HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning)
  • Carpentry/Roofing/Framing

Each Building Skills module has ten 50-minute units and can be delivered with flexibility, depending on the needs of the students -- in a group, in teams of two or on an individual basis. Students use the easy-to-follow self-directed guidebook and DVD to work through each trade area and perform a variety of hands-on construction activities and techniques.
