A GreenBuild Tech Academy
Building Sustainable Futures!
HELPFUL LINKS
For learning to take place with any kind of efficiency students must be motivated.  To be motivated, they must become interested.
And they become interested when they are actively working on projects
which they can relate to their values and goals in life.

What Makes Us Different?

3 R’s of Relationships, Relevance and Rigor
Shape our School Culture and Educational Program
and Prepare Students for Success in Life, College, and Careers

  • Relationships: Trade Tech offers students a small learning community where No Child is Left Unknown. Students join an advisory and begin and end each day in their advisory, which focuses on building relationships, creating a sense of community, and developing leadership skills. Three days per week, students work in their advisory full-time on projects.Advisors (credentialed teachers) provide direction, coaching, and support on projects; and provide additional academic support to accelerate learning. Advisory areas reflect a work environment, with individual workspaces and conference spaces for group work.
  • Relevance: Learning comes alive for our students through project-based learning. Projects provide opportunities for immediate, meaningful application of their academic know-how and skills. In addition to our career tech projects, students have the opportunity to develop individual projects driven by their personal interests and goals.
  • Rigor: Two days per week students attend engaging college-style seminars that promote critical thinking and problem solving. Seminars are designed to ensure that students meet California content standards in core academic areas and that they have the academic know-how and skills to support rigorous projects. Highly Personalized Learning

  • Personal Learning Plans: Every student has a data-driven Personal Learning Plan designed to address their learning styles, academic needs, and short and long-term goals. We get to know each student's:
Strengths - So we can challenge them
Areas for Growth - So we can support them
Interests - So we can help them design projects that will excite them!
  • Personalized Learning: Students actively engage in a unique blend of content seminars and project-based learning that provide the means to customize learning to address each student's Personal Learning Plan and allow for remediation and/or additional challenge, as needed.
  • Easy Access to our Education Specialist: Any student who needs additional academic support has access to our Education Specialist who works with Advisors and students to design personalized intervention strategies, particularly in reading and math.

Seamless Integration of Academics,
Career Technical Education
and 21st Century Skills

  • Academics: Learning comes alive in the context of real-world projects that make meaningful connections between core subject matter - language arts, math, science, and social science.
  • Career Technical Education (CTE): Projects integrate academics and focus on preparing students for high skill, high wage professions in the building and construction industry – with a focus on emerging ‘green collar’ professions (green building, sustainability, alternative energy, etc.).
