MAP Testing

Grammar: Identifying nouns. After studying about nouns in the grammar textbook, do the Identifying nouns worksheet.  Identify 30 common nouns and 7 proper nouns in the short passage.  This assignment is worth 15 points based on the number of correctly identified nouns. 

Reading comprehension.  Read the short passage, The Gold Rush: Rise of the Golden State, and then answer the questions.  This assignment is worth 10 points and is graded as follows:  2.5 points per question.

Read over the English 9 Course Syllabus. Sign and have parent sign.  

Write about the reason or reasons that you came to Trade Tech High School.  This writing assignment is worth 5 points.  2 points for the reason or reasons.  3 points for the explanation.

The first writing assignment for the year.  Write about yourself.  You  can include anything that you want to share.  You should write  at least 10 things about yourself.  This assignment is worth 15 points and is scored as follows:  10 points for each thing mentioned. 1 point for correct grammar. 1 point for correct spelling. 1 point for correct punctuation.  2 points for style.
