Basketball

Our Basketball team welcomes ALL students. We practice on Mondays and Thursdays at Trade Tech or Luz Duran. Practice is from 3:15-4:15 when at Trade Tech and 3:30-4:30 when we are at another location.. Even though all students are welcome to practice with us, not all students can go to the games. We can only take 12-14 students to the games. The students that will be selected will be determined by their abilities, dedication and attitude. All athletes must fill out a permission slip which is attached on this page.
Our first practice starts Tuesday October 8th.

Expectations of our athletes:

1. No F's (If a student has an F in any class they may not be allowed to participate in any games)
2. Good sportsmanship during games and practices
3. Students can not be on honor level 4 (This is our schoolwide behavioral system)
4. Participates fully in practices
5. Has a positive attitude

I will update students with our game schedule through the remind app. If you would also like to be added to remind email me and I can give you the code.

North County Trade Tech Basketball Mission Statement, coaching philosophy and general thoughts.

Sports play an important part in all of our lives, the lessons we learn on the court stay with us for a lifetime.  Hard work, perseverance, and dedication are but a few of these lessons.  My goal is to turn these young athletes into the future adults of tomorrow by instilling those lessons through the medium of sports.  I do not expect to be the best team, but I expect our student-athletes to be their best.  Part of learning and growing is learning how to deal with defeat, hardships, and failures.

Our Main Goals

Develop your student into a successful member of society
Brilliance in the basics
Develop a sense of pride in the team and each other

Core Values (LID)
Loyalty - devoted to each other, the team, and your family.  You owe unwavering loyalty to yourself, each other, the team, and each your families.
To improve your loyalty you should show your loyalty by never discussing the problems of the team with outsiders. Never talk about the team unfavorably. Once a decision is made carry out that order willingly as if it were your own.
Integrity - Integrity means that you are honest and truthful in what you say or do. You put honesty, sense of duty, and sound moral principles above all else.
To improve your integrity be absolutely honest and truthful at all times. Stand up for what you believe to be right.
Dependability - Dependability means that you can be relied upon to perform your duties properly. It means that you can be trusted to complete a job. It is the willing and voluntary support of the policies and decisions of the team and staff. Dependability also means consistently putting forth your best effort in an attempt to achieve the highest standards of performance.
To improve your dependability you can increase your dependability by forming the habit of being where you're supposed to be on time, by not making excuses and by carrying out every task and conducting every drill to the best of your ability regardless of whether you like it or agree with it.

First Principles (4P's)
People - This is a people first operation.  As a community and as a team, WE are responsible for the success of our student-athletes to become productive members of society.  It is OUR responsibility to ensure everyone has the opportunity
Proficiency - Know your assignment, and do your job!  The success of the team is presupposed on the success of the individual.  Proficiency and brilliance in the basics, knowing the plays.
Preparedness - Are you physically and mentally ready for the rigors and stress of competing?  Are you able to show up to practice every day and give it your all? Infractions should be kept to a minimum, and detentions may (result in/jeopardize) your (in)ability to compete on game day/ status on the team (detentions are contradictory to dependability)
Professionalism - Actions on and off the court (this coexists with preparedness and dependability)  This is your reputation as individuals, and OUR reputation as a team, and further as a school. You are expected to show up on time, ready to practice, learn, and grow every day.
