This course continues to follow Common Core State Standards  in developing students’ abilities to: 

• read closely and analytically to comprehend a range of increasingly complex literary and informational text
• produce effective and well-grounded writing for a range of purposes and audiences. 
• employ effective speaking and listening skills for a range of purposes and audience
• develop skills in argumentation, both written and verbal,  based on supporting evidence
• engage in research/inquiry to investigate topics, and to analyze, integrate, and present information
